Former Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr.'s arrest has taken a dark turn.
According to NBC San Diego, the San Diego County Sheriff's department said Thursday Winslow has been charged with kidnapping and rape in addition to first-degree burglary.
Winslow was charged with burglary June 7 after he allegedly was seen exiting a home in Encinitas, Calif. A man confronted him and Winslow allegedly left the scene.
The witness took photos of Winslow's car which ultimately led to his arrest.
Winslow's publicist Denise White released a statement through an attorney saying the truth will come out and it will suggest the former NFL tight end did nothing wrong.
"Mr. Winslow emphatically denies committing any burglary," the statement read. "He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park. He looks forward to being vindicated once this matter is fully investigated and adjudicated through the court system."
This statement was in reference to the alleged burglary.
Now, according to NBC San Diego, Winslow has been charged with "two counts of kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, two counts of forcible rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of forcible oral copulation, two counts of residential burglary and one count of indecent exposure."
It is unclear whether the charges stem from the alleged June 7 incident in Encinitas, or when they have happened at all.
Winslow was originally scheduled to be arraigned Thursday for the June 7 arrest. His arraignment has been rescheduled for Friday.
The 34-year-old played nine seasons in the NFL for the Browns, Jets and Buccaneers. He amassed 5,236 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns.
